The School was started as Sadanam Nursery school managed by the Sree Narayana Dharma Sanghom Trust, Varkala. In 1990, it was renamed as Sivagiri Vidyaniketan

Our guiding light is Sree Narayana Guru and we work for the ideal “Achieve Freedom through Education”. The management gives special emphasis on providing modern infrastructure to facilitate learning in a fast changing world.
The school owes the pride of being the first of its kind in Aluva to have received the ISO certification and in installing a language lab.
The school is maintaining good quality system in the process of education. The records of the activities carried out in the school are documented. Each and every activity in the school is carried out in a systematic way with certain set procedures as per the ISO norms.

The language lab has been set up with the state of art facilities. The lab offers materials for students at all stages of language proficiency. Its unique features enable effective, efficient and satisfying means of spoken language enhancement.

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The medium of instruction is English. The academic year begins in June and ends in March. Hindi and Malayalam are additional languages, one of which can be dropped in std IX. The syllabus includes computer training, sports and games, art and craft, dance, music-vocal and instrumental and yoga.

The school aims at giving quality education to the students and helps them to become torchbearers of our rich heritage and true citizens of tomorrow. The success of the school has evolved from its constant endeavour to help the students climb the academic ladder on the firm footholds of truth and integrity.

Quality Policy

The school has got certification of ISO 9001:2000 in the year 2005. The re-certification audit was conducted on 10th December 2008. The accredited agency recommended for re-certify the system again.

General Instructions

1. The child must bring the School diary to the class daily. Argents must check the diary regularly. Remarks made in the diary should be seen and countersigned

2. Parents are expected to co-operate with the school authorities by enforcing regularity and discipline. The greater the co-operation between home and the school, the surer and faster the child’s progress in education.

3. Do not visit wards or teachers in the classrooms, under any circumstance. Teachers can be visited only by prior appointment through diary, possibly during lunch break. Visit at other times is possible only with the permission of the principal

4. Criticism of a teacher n presence of the child should be avoided. If you have a legitimate complaint, please bring to the notice of the principal.

5. Any change in address or telephone number must be intimated to the school.

6. Students suffering from any contagious or infectious diseases will not be permitted to attend school.

7. Withdrawing your ward from classes to attend social functions is not recommended, as it will affect the child’s progress. In case of an emergency, a written request from the parent is necessary. The person collecting the child has to sign in the exit register maintained by the school.

8. Parents must attend the “Open House” to get an update on their child’s academic progress and conduct. In case the parent is unable to attend the open house, it must be communicated to the class teacher.

9. Students should not be given any amount of money except when a request is made by the school under the signature of the principal or the class teacher.

10. Students should come to School neatly dressed in the prescribed uniform.

11. Gold and fancy ornaments should not be worn to School. The School authorities will not be responsible for the loss.

12. Any damage done to the School property or to that of other students will have to be made good by the erring student.

Attendance

A student should have 90% attendance to his/her credit in an academic year to be eligible for promotion.
Period of leave with reason should be recorded in the School diary by the parent with signature.
Name of the student will be removed from the rolls of the School if absence is for more than a week continuously without sanction of leave. In such cases a re-admission fee of Rs. 50/- will be charged.
In case of serious illness a medical certificate must be attached with the application.

After this cut off date on 15th no fees will be collected and school may have to take administrative action against the defaulters.
If the scheduled date as given above happens to be a holiday the remittance should made on the next working day.
School fees for classes X and XII for the month of March should be remitted on or before 10th February.
The timings for the fees collection is between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm everyday.

NB : School fee can be remitted only in the main campus.

Examination and promotion

Promotion is on the basis of continuous and comprehensive evaluation. A series of assignments, written and oral tests, projects and activities will be conducted and taken into consideration for the purpose of final promotion
